SEAL YOUR DRUG CONVICTION
Under NYS CPL 160.58, an individual may petition the court to seal their conviction related to a controlled substance.
The sealing is not automatic. The motion must be completed, one may have to appear in court, and you must not have any pending charges against you.
The Judge can extend the sealing up to 3 more drug-related misdemeanor convictions as long as the sentences are completed.
The sealing of felonies and misdemeanors is conditional, meaning that if you are arrested again for a misdemeanor or felony, the cases will be unsealed.
